I think the reason he wasn't really affected was because he's like that naturally. He masks it, but Billy didn't bring anything to the surface that wasn't already there. He thinks hat because Darla lives w/ him and his (often welcome) abuse for ceturies that he can just treat her like that again now. He doesn't see that she's a lot more fragile now. Also, I don't think he meant to kick her out in the morning when he started that night. I think he reallly meant to give it all up and turn, and when that didn't happen, he decided she had to leave. Cuz he's a butthead.
