Exactly. My problem with the character is that since season 2 there hasn't been any realistic development with her. I don't need another superhero and esp. an infallible one on a show where there's supposed to be one major hero of sorts working towards redemption, a theme that's sadly been dropped imho. So far this season she's been portrayed as someone that comes before all others, learns how to sword fight and punch out vampires in no time flat, does no wrong, and has the perfect advice for every situation, etc.

On top of all of this I still have to deal with the fact that last year she did nothing to reach out to Angel. I also had to realize that Angel's major crisis last year resolved into Cordelia's hurt feelings. For someone that preaches helping the hopeless she really didn't reach out to someone that's supposed to be a friend to her.

The writers just like they are doing with Angel for some reason will not acknowledge responsibility accordingly. I really wish that they'd allow her to grow through researching what's actually a part of her like the visions, but since they aren't I wish they'd get rid of them because the only time they seem to use them is when she needs sympathy. Case in point, this year I thought we were going some where with the extra pain numbing visions, but after "That Vision Thing" we don't get one answer as to what caused the pain which I guess she's still experiencing. That's more than enough proof for me that they used the whole "extra painful visions" plot since Dead End as a sympathy card for Cordelia.

IMHO this "superhero" direction is a mistake. I'm not saying Cordelia can't learn to fight, but please make it realistic. Now she can just punch out vamps as a mere human in the span of learning how to punch in one session? Please. If I wanted a superhero I'd watch Buffy.

I think that's the major issue with me is that Cordelia's development isn't in line with her character. I liked Cordelia before because she was shallow yet grew into being someone that wasn't awfully insensitive or cutthroat in season 1 of ANGEL but still could be at some point. I really liked that Cordelia yet her changes were in line with her character. You could still see the old Cordelia in the revised version from season 1 leading to Judgement. This one? I don't know who she is.

Believe me. I'm not trying to find fault with the character. I really liked her before but there's been so much inconsideration concerning her character that frankly I can't seem to care and probably never will. I just look to Darla and Fred to make some kind of sense.

Like you said, the writers took their time with B/S. With C/A I don't see such regard so I question their intentions. I've seen such comments voiced on the ASSB. There weren't many but mostly they were concerned with things happening too fast. They also didn't like the fact that Fred instigated the whole thing instead of Angel acknowledging it to himself.

>Plus, with B/S, we got to see things from Spike's

>So far, Angel has had two major relationships: Darla

Exactly, which is in line with the assumption that he'd be confused when it comes to different kinds of love since he's only experienced so less in that area.

That's why I put Darla in first consideration. They don't have to get rid of the curse in order for them to start something. Plus, she's a demon. If Angel ever developed a relationship with another human I think a pivotal foundation of the character would be destroyed. He left Buffy for the fact that he couldn't give her, a human, what she deserved in life. He set up those rules. So for him to deny another woman that would make him look like a hypocrite. I'm not a B/A shipper, but I do believe in holding up what was set before if it's something that's very important as this. The curse also makes Angel more interesting and more attractive to the audience.

>Even with the Lullaby spoilers, what I'm wondering is
>how far the writers are going to let Darla grow and
>change. Then again, I'm mentally having arguments
>advocating Darla-change, which is what I did with
>Spike before Fool For Love aired.

I think if anything I can see Darla doing good for her baby, but not for the well being of mankind. She might come around to that but I doubt it. I have to see more.

>>Oh and Fred too.
>
>Fred, too, has a place in Angel's life. I really like
>her. She gets the sweet and cool award from me at this
>point in the season.

I'm so glad she's there with Angel and Darla in those Lullaby pics.

>Let's not forget that she abandoned him in The Trial
>flashback, so there's a lot of back and forth between
>those two regarding their feelings for each other.

Well, they were only together for 5 years at that point. I always felt that there was something more to tell after that point also, but I guess not.

I
>guess what the flashbacks show us is that Darla/Angel
>have a constantly changing relationship.

Most definitely until they reached a certain point.
