shocking

scented

~~the phrases:
"the irony of you"
"not close enough"
"please fly away"

hazy gray
hot as hell
eaten alive

I ran away with the county fair
to see what life was really like out there.
Weariness and sunburn touched every hide.
Mosquitoes were laughing, while you were eaten alive.

Tractor rigs puffing out diesel scented clouds.
Painted mermaids and tigers...don't forget the Tilt-o-whirl's clowns.
Hazy gray humidity stormed the lot every night.
Persperation rising as the crowds reached their height.

Tempers sometimes became hot as hell
as players fought and egos would swell.
My job was not to swindel, my job was just a job.
Look at me what you will, I'm wasn't a theif or a slob.

The irony of you, society, you think you're always right.
But, sometimes you're just too dumb to read the signs within your sight.
Convulsing rides shocking all those who would dare
enter a stomach-turning realm with food odors in the air.

Those trash cans sometimes just weren't close enough
for the macho-acting man who thought he was tough.
I ran off once, with the county fair
learning that life was tougher than I thought out there.

I remember those days, the memories have yet to fade.
I'll remember it always till God whispers it's time to please fly away.
