Subject: Poly will need the A Game

If the Stangs are to beat UCSB for the first time in the last 11 meetings between the two schools, they'll need to bring their "A" game to Mott on Thursday night.

Listed a below are stats for both teams with Poly exposed in a couple of areas.

Points Per Game
CP 69 - UCSB 65 PPG

F.G %
CP 42% - UCSB 45%

3 Pt FG%
CP 31% - UCSB 38%

Rebounds
CP 36/game - UCSB 30/game

Turnovers
CP 18/game - UCSB 13/game

Steals
CP 7/game - UCSB 6/game

Blocks
CP 4.5/game - UCSB 1/game

Based on this data, here are some suggestions for Bromley:
1. Put your best defender on Fullove and comit to holding him to 10 points.
2. Use a slow-paced half court offensive set based on the motion offense. This should cut down on turnovers.
3. Use a triangle and one zone defense forcing UCSB to shoot from the outside with Varnie Dennis defending the key and blocking shots. Further, this defense will allow one player to go man to man with Fullove and shut him down.
4. Set a team goal of achieving 40 rebounds for the game and hold USCB to no more than 25 boards.

Poly is no push-over and is beginning to play significantly better. This game could turn into a Mustang blowout if the team puts it all together in front of a home crowd and a West Coast television audience.
