To answer some of your questions based on my experience:

1) Yes, Drachmers is the key point to this map. A 1000 Dr
counts as much as 1000 people and it seems to me that it is a hell of a lot easier to get a 1000 drachmers than to get 1000 people and keep them !

2)Thought a lot about placing Athena for the olive oil but just couldn't find the space for it. Could I come up with some solution to fit it in, I would proberly build it because getting those damned olives was really a big issue for me.

3) Agree

4)Depends how fast you can get your elite housing up and running. Sparta is actually pretty strong, so it will take some 30-40 soldiers to conquer them. Any later than June of 2495, you might as well wait for them to become ally (but have the wine ready for them)

5) Trap both of them !! Hydra is actually pretty easy because he appears right next to the small island. With a MO waithing, he will step right into the trap !. Saves you 32 wines and 4 x 4 space (1 extra estate).
