Subject: Saving black and white image inverts to white on black

I have a program that scans images displays the scanned image and saves it to ".png" files. It works perfect with all the scanners I've tested.

BUT, a client is using the program with a Visioneer Strobe Pro. When the images are transferred from the scanner and displayed, it looks fine. Once the image is saved, the black and white are reversed.

Anybody have a clue what the scanner is sending back that could cause Envision to save as a negative?
