Hi Mike,

Nick Boland has created an add on available for version 2 of Envision which decodes code 39 bar codes. I have not tested it in a production environment so you would need to try it out with some same documents.

Other than that, I think everything else is expensive, ie, FineReader ocr, ImageLib toolkit...
