Hi Gerson,

Some scanner drivers want the scanner to be connected, otherwise an error will occur saying a scanner is not found. Some other drivers I have seen actually allow transferring images from the hard disk, without having the scanner at all. Also, SCSI scanners may need to be on before the computer is started.
