Subject: External Exception when closing scanner

I have an application that I wrote that has worked fine for several years. However, when trying this program with a HP 5300C scanner, I get an ExternalException error. I have it narrowed down to this part of code inside acquire:

if FTwainData.SourceId.Id <> 0 then
if not CallTriplet( nil, @FTwainData.AppId, DG_CONTROL, DAT_IDENTITY, MSG_CLOSEDS,
@FTwainData.SourceId, nil, FTwainData.DsmEntry) then
raise ETwainError.Create('Unable to close TWAIN data source');

FillChar(FTwainData.SourceId, SizeOf(FTwainData.SourceId), 0);

The exception is raised on the first DSMEntry call inside CallTriplet. All of the other triplet calls work fine. Has anybody experienced this?
