Having watched the past few VFL games, he has been ok and contributed, but looked a long way from an AFL player. He isn't winning the ball on the outside and doesn't use the pace he has. He is also not winning much in the way of clearances.

And a key point is intensity and effort which any midfielder can bring. Allan (IMO) is currently not sure anywhere near enough and this is something which Long has in spades.
