Well, the Crows did have seven first-22 players out at round 1 - VB, Henderson, Walker, Otten, Lynch, Douglas & B. Crouch. Douglas is now out again for two matches, Crouch is out again and still 4-5 weeks away, but Lynch is back now, Otten just played in the seconds for the first time and did OK, Grigg is available again and the strong tip is that Walker will be playing half a game in the seconds this Friday (25th April). VB and Henderson are still 4-5 months away.

If the Crows can get over the Bulldogs and Dees in the next two rounds heading up to the bye, for the first time this season they might actually be able to field something approaching their full strength side (apart from VB and Henderson) after the bye.

Despite saying they were concentrating on running & fitness this year rather than bulk & strength they pursued last year (and were lamentably slow), the Crows looked utterly unfit in the first three rounds, utterly failing to make the slightest contest in the last quarter in each of those games. There has been a big improvement in this aspect in the last couple of games, however, and it may be that the Crows over-trained just prior to round 1.

Who knows, there may yet still be a glimmer of hope somewhere to be found for this season. One can always live in hope.
