Everyone is shallow to a degree.
And I do understand the appeal of a BMW with sports suspension (it's not like I haven't driven a few of them).
The thing that I would say is having a domestic car industry should be a matter of far, far greater national pride than Olympic medals or an Australian cricket or soccer team. Supporting Australian sporting teams is cool but surely supporting Australian industry that is producing fine product is something to be prouder of. And worthy of your consideration too.
Let's forget about plus $100,000 cars for a moment. What comes close to the domestic rear-wheel-drive product in terms of performance, comfort, space, and handling?
Even the BMW stuff doesn't handle as well as a bog standard Falcon unless you spend an additional $5000 on the M-Sport pack.
