it has absolutely nothing to do with commendation. as i stated, singles in general, across the board for just about any band just don't do it for me. usually a single by nature cuts back on the emotion or depth because, as their purpose is, they are there to attract people. if i'm devoted to a band, i don't need a catchy hit single to keep me interested. but does that take away the goodness of some songs? no. but they're not nearly as likely to be my fave as opposed to a sprawling 8 minute opus. and any song that one of the 2 decent (i live in rural virginia) plays out will very quickly make me sick no matter who the band is or how good the song is. this is all based on my circumstances.
