Subject: I imagine over the next 8 weeks we won’t see as many farewells as we would have in past years. Not positive but have been told there are several that will be returning to the same local they represented for 2025. I think it’s great to stay in the same area and build a rapport with the community. I don’t think it hurts anyone. It gives the girls an opportunity to grow with a team of volunteers over more than 6-12 months and I think that can really be a positive thing on so many levels.

The main thing it hurts are sponsors. Many merchants like a thank you for what they've contributed. Many locals no longer have program books. On top of that, since there are so many opens, these merchants are giving away merchandise to someone from the other side of the state, so it's not even like they are giving it to a local contestant. So it does hurt in that respect. One case in point, Thomasville always presents the outgoing queen with something at the end of her reign. The Mayor or someone from his office usually attends and there is a presentation onstage. That did not happen this year because Hannah was competing for Central Carolina.
