Though distortedly
With all the queer customs
And twisted ritual of my kind.

I who
Peddled you on the street
Now carry a wheal of words:
The lash of sentences
Across my back.

I, the loathsome brute
From Central Casting,
Spat upon by strangers.
Anointed with wine.
Smuggled swiftly out
Through academic alleyways.

A slavering beast.
Knuckles dragging,
Knocking along the corridor.
Rattling the lock on your cardboard door.
Testing the trembling
Room of flesh within.

Brilliant evocations.
That plausible resentment.
Your finely crafted rage.
Who now dares drag out
The bloodied stakes of blame?

Better, I grant,
My myth of devilry
Than shabby cuckold's truth.

To learn too late of
Your last erotic assignation
As eager whore of death.
