“The Inside Scoop on Perfect Productions Pageants”

I feel it is first important to note that I arranged to write this article prior to leaving for Alabama. I had arranged to interview several people, and send in photos of the event, despite the outcome. How surprised was I when I realized I would be interviewing myself? More on that later...
Let’s begin with Perfect Productions Pageants (PPP) itself. The system, is owned and operated by Ms Bobbie Terry. This year, approximately 60 ladies, ages 13-30, gathered in Birmingham, to compete in Personality Interview, Swimwear, On-Stage Interview, and Beauty. Four lucky people would take home the gorgeous PPP crowns, and rhinestone banners, as well as embark on a fun filled year as a national queen.
The event kicked off with a welcome dinner party, (where I learned first hand the difference between a roll and a biscuit), and fashion show. Several of the contestants, including myself, were asked to model the pageant fashions of a local Alabama store. Afterward, we greeted the two representatives of the PPP National Charity, The Salvation Army, and took group photos with them. All the contestants had been asked to bring back-to-school supplies as donations, which were presented to the Salvation Army representatives.
I spoke with several people regarding their donations after the party, and as Heather Frye, Mrs. Alabama (1st runner-up, Mrs. Ambassador, and my roommate) said, “As a parent of four, I feel this was a creative and important donation to make. Ms. Bobbie should be commended for incorporating more than beauty into her event!”
As state delegates, we were also asked to bring donations for the Humane Society, such as pet food and pet toys, and a Christmas Present for either a boy or a girl. Tiffany Estell, Miss California (4th runner-up, Over-all Interview winner, Pageantry Spirit winner, Miss Congeniality, and my personal choice as Miss winner) remarked, “I feel like I am here after more than a crown. I feel a real sense of responsibility to others. It is very important to use your titles to help others, and we certainly are doing
that at Perfect Productions,”
Unfortunately, the entire time in Alabama, it rained. (I swear I brought the northern weather down south!) More important than the weather, however, was the way Ms. Bobbie and her staff handled the interruptions to the Pool Party and Vision Land Trip. Quickly, Ms. Bobbie rented out the hotel lounge, scheduling a Pizza/ Karaoke Party, which was an absolute blast! One of the highlights, aside from some incredible vocal displays, like the one from Miss Georgia, Stephanie Kan (1st runner-up), was the group presentation of Cindy Lauper’s “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun.” The weeks theme was born!
Vision Land was replaced by an educational trip to the McWane Center Amphitheater, and the local super mall. Sporting our banners, we were a hit with tourists and locals alike. One visitor of the McWane Center was actually from Massachusetts! It was wonderful making that connection with the folks back home, and receive their support.
Through her work with various charities, and maneuvering of obstacles, Ms. Bobbie proved she has what it takes to be a strong , hands on director, who cares for her delegates as, “More than just another number,” as summed up by Mrs. Illinois, Rose Cassidy (4th runner-up).
The event certainly did not lack its glitz and glamour, however. Lovely interview suits, Miss USA style swimsuits, and stunning evening gowns were to be seen for the next two nights. But, something was missing from other events I have attended. The sense of tension at rehearsals and back stage! Throughout the week together, delegates had made life long friends, and thanks to the professional staff at Matt Davenport Productions, we were all confident we would look our very best on-stage.
Okay, so, who took the top honors anyway? Well, I am proud to announce that Miss Lee County Jr. Teen, and my close personal friend Brooke Milner won the Jr. Teen group! After, Anna, Brooke’s Mom stated, “This is not just a title to us. We have tried for this title for two years, and cannot wait to represent Ms. Bobbie, and promote the Perfect Productions system.”
The Teen title went to the charming Sarah Menees, Miss Tennessee Teen, who I was happy to get to know throughout the week. On stage after crowning, Sarah said, “I cannot believe it! The competition was so tough, and I am just so honored I was selected!”
The Mrs. title went to Mrs. Mississippi, Meg Eason. At the glamorous winners photo shoot we were whisked away to, ALA Miss USA style, Meg remarked to me, “I had a wonderful week. I am very proud of this title, and to be representing Perfect Productions.”
“And your new, Perfect Productions National Miss is Kime Emery, Miss Massachusetts!!!!” I still get goose bumps every time I replay those words in my mind. To say I was shocked, is a bit of an understatement! But, it was not the crown that I was exited for my friend, and 2000 Teen Queen, Hannah Austin, to place on my head. It was the thought of promoting a system that exemplifies all I look for in friends and life...Integrity, Excitement, Grace, and Honesty.
To this day, I still communicate with all the friends I made at PPP, and of course Ms. Bobbie. We are up to some pretty exciting things! I am so grateful this opportunity “landed in my lap,” and proud to say I am a part of this revolutionary up and coming system. Thank you to Ms. Bobbie, all the runners-up for our after dinner party, my big sister Heather, Miss Anna for making me look my very best, The Austin’s and Lewis’ for their support all week, Scott from Cinderella’s, The Supermodels Unlimited Staff for EVERTHING, and of course God who led me to Alabama.
