It's the colours and shapes of Echeverias, Cena, that are so beautiful - in addition the fact that they'll grow from just a leaf, take temperatures down to freezing and even below (as long as it's dry), and in general are so rewarding to the grower. There is often confusion about names, and I haven't sorted them out either - I've bought two different E. elegans, for instance, but sure isn't that the fun of it, finding out which is the right one, etc. They also make great houseplants, especially the smaller ones, and don't mind the dry air, though some, such as E. shaviana - come from forested areas and don't mind shade. With Echeverias you've got it all!
