Subject: 2017 conference realignment thread

Let's start an NCAA & NAIA conference realignment thread - if you are aware of any changes please mention them here. Going just from my memory I can recall the following:

UAB returns to Conference USA
Idaho moves to the Big Sky Conference
Several GLIAC teams move to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference
NAIA's The Sun Conference merges with Mid-South Conference

Correction: Idaho won't move back until 2018. One more year in the Sun Belt.

BTW, New Mexico State will leave the Sun Belt in 2018 as well but will stay as a FBS/I-A Independent.

Thanks, Burmy! That will be very helpful. Looks like most of the movement is among the small colleges this year.

Not sure if they go Independent this year before they move to NCAA D1 for 2018 for all sports.

Dean College have been listed as NJCAA where they played football in.

I think Morthland and University of Fort Lauderdale could be applying to join NAIA this year.

A bit early but in 2018 Campbell moves to the Big South from the Pioneer Conference.

North Greenville University will be joining the Gulf South Conference in 2018.
North Alabama University will move to D1 FCS Ind in 2018, and become a football only member of the Big South in 2019.
North Dakota University is moving from the Big Sky to the MVFC but not until 2020.

A recent move from Canada:

Bishop is leaving the RESQ to join AUS for football only. This move will give each league 5 teams.

Limestone College (NCAA DII) has joined the South Atlantic Conference as an associate member for Football (earlier this Spring). They already had a scheduling agreement, but now are eligible for the league championship and weekly football awards.
