Subject: 1969 College Football Centennial research project

I can't remember if I've mentioned it here before but I want to gather together COLOR photographs of all of the 1969 helmets in which the football-shape on the college football centennial "100" logo was a color other than blue. I've added photographs of seven of the nine known teams to have used other colors to the website, on the 'college football centennial logo' page at the website (way down near the bottom of the index. There are a number of other teams for which a non-blue color is suspected, but unproven.

Incidentally I ran across a great instance of the logo on an old media guide while investigating Chico State University:

Any chance this set of decals confirms what the logo looked like for Pacific Lutheran University in 1969? I'm sure they were sent the exact same sheet of decals as Chico State.

For PLU I think the shape of the logo is not in doubt (it's probably the same one nearly every other team used) but the color remains uncertain. While I still think it's probably blue, black cannot be ruled out - that one color photograph in the yearbook is just not adequately clear, unfortunately.

It is known that black decals were produced (Vanderbilt used black), and the ones on Missouri's helmets were also black, but those could have been transparent ones that allowed the color of the helmet to show through.
