Subject: Calgary Stampeders Star Helmet

http://collectingcanadianfootball.blogspot.com/
The September 29th 2021 posting on this page titled "100th Post - A few of my favorite things" has 2 pictures of the Stampeders with the Star logo helmet.
The explanation;
The significance of the left photo (an exhibition matchup between the Rough Riders and the Stampeders in Calgary on July 25, 1962) is that it is the only game in Stampeder history where the team wore the white star on their helmets. It just so happened that Weekend Magazine photographers were there to capture it in colour for posterity. The inset shows Wayne Harris during the same game with the star helmet.

Thanks, that would be a "new" one for me. Were there any more than those two photographs? Since there were a lot of non-uniform helmet designs during that period I usually like to verify a possible design by seeing multiple photographs, but it sounds as though additional photographs of that one will be difficult to locate. However it does appear that the star is present on at least the three helmets where you would see it if it were present (on #55 in the inset photograph, on #70 in the main photograph, and on the helmet partially hidden by the left arm of #70).

There are a couple of slightly-darker pixels inside the star on #70's helmet, but no possibility of identifying if there's a "C" or an "S" or something else, or nothing there.

There may be some pictures in old newspapers. I will check it out next time I go on the old newspaper site.
