I think they are operating as an "independent" for 2022 season before deciding on a conference for 2023.

That's my understanding, also. I created a "NCAA Division III independents" team page and put Hilbert there, though without any helmet design information yet.

Also the other new team that I expected to begin play in 2022 - Eastern University - will apparently not play any games until 2023, so Hilbert is apparently the only new one in 2022. I believe this is the lowest number of new teams in a year since I started the website.

Did you get North American University for Independent in NAIA? They were accepted for provisional memberships in NAIA which meansthey are applying for the regional accreditation. I presume they will go in Red River for all sports and Sooner Athletics Conference for football in the future. They started football in 2020 as one of those not countable games, but they are now countable.

Yes, NAU should be on the 'NAIA independents' page now, thought without a 2022 helmet design (since I don't yet have that information)

Scroll down to the point where I posted that they got accepted in the NAIA. They will still have the same helmet design from last year. I posted a link to the pick. It is a white helmet with a blue stallon with black outlines on the stallon.
