Subject: week 0 observations

It seems as though "week 0" was a bit light this week, both in terms of games scheduled and new helmet activity, but I have seen a number of new designs. Aside from those already added to the website, New Mexico State, Hawai'i, Austin Peay, and Taylor each used new designs. So did a couple of others for which I'll need additional information:

Jacksonville State used a new logo - the wording "JAX STATE" in some propretary-looking font - which I have been unable to locate thus far. The lettering appears to also be used on the team's uniforms, so I think this is part of a new "identity" for the team. Here's a photograph of the new helmet design:

Madonna University switched to yellow helmets with a new logo, a "crusader helmet". There's a good photograph of the new design at the team's website, but it doesn't show the left side of the helmet, which of course is needed for Helmet Project purposes.

The avalanche arrives Thursday, with 81 NCAA and NAIA games scheduled, 22 more on Friday, and 250 Saturday.
