UNC-Pembroke used to field a college football team in 1946 until the team was terminated in 1950. They were known as Pembroke State back then.

Belmont Abbey used to have a team back then as well.

I think it is a safe assumption that after looking at Pembroke State yearbooks from 1947-1951, the Braves had black leather helmets for 1946-1949 and white leather helmets with a single black stripe for 1950.

Unfortunately, I cannot find yearbooks for Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina (UNC-Charlotte) for the years needed, 1947-1949.
