So, yes, I see the same helmet in the NEMO (Truman State) yearbook too. The picture I found in the Southwest Missouri State yearbook for 1968 was mislabeled because the caption clearly says that the SWMO player is about to tackle the Maryville ball-carrier, and the ball-carrier has on that exact Truman State helmet, so it was a NEMO ball-carrier. And yes, the Maryville helmets are as described, with the single stripe. Mystery solved!

Agreed. That caption on the Missouri State photo threw me off also! Then a few pages later you see the football schedule for Missouri State in that same YB and they didn't even play Maryville that year! Awesome job on that #38 Sewanee. Some of these are frustrating to find for sure! I think I found some others but it is more of a process of elimination.

Also Maryville could have been referring to Northwest Missouri State whose located in Maryville, MO.
