Boston College's yearbooks are available to view on Archive.org, and from what I can see, the last year they wore grey facemasks was 1980

(note that the date of publication is one year ahead of the season)

Also, from the 1960 BC yearbook, the Eagles had helmet numbers. I'll let you know if I find anything else worth mentioning. In '59 they had gold helmets with a red stripe

After looking through BC's yearbooks from 1955-1970, here are the results:

-1955 Leather helmets
1956-1959 Gold with single maroon stripe
1958-1961 Gold with single maroon stripe, helmet numbers (likely maroon but could be black)

1961 Gold, stripeless, helmet numbers (same as above)
1962-1980 Gold with grey mask

Also, reports of an 'eagle logo' turned out to be a reward sticker on a helmet or two - here's a look
