"There is one other historical helmet for UAB besides those shown above - in 1992, UAB used helmets that were similar to the 1991 helmet, but with a "BLAZERS" logo added to the design. I have been told that the letters were in yellow with both white and yellow outlines around them; below is a photograph of this design. A copy of the artwork for this helmet decal would enable me to add this one to the web site."

I have a photo of the '92 helmet, that while not the best in terms of clarity, plainly shows that the "BLAZERS" lettering is in white with only a yellow outline (the same style as the logo on the '93) on the same green shell (with yellow facemask) as the 1991 & 1993 teams.

That 92 helmet, along with the 93 chevron, was early favorites of mine. I've always wondered why they've never used the familiar UAB header, that you basically see on everything at the university, for the helmet, even as an alternate design for one game.

I've always thought the green helmets were more representative of the school. After Coach Brown modernized the look, based upon the Raiders, there seems to have never been much thought in that direction. The iconic institutional logo on the helmet would be interesting...certainly would leave no doubt to what team someone was watching!

Thanks, that's a much better photograph than I had previously, and was sufficient for me to add that helmet to the website, since the font was recognizable (italic Times New Roman or something very similar).
