I thought I would never see the day that the fate of Old Greg would be openly debated on this board. Just goes to show that if you live long enough you will see and hear everything.

I too have been one of those arguing for the departure of Kampe, I think he was over his head when OU decided to go to DI. I felt player development ended abruptly for a number of talented players, I felt yelling and posturing at games replaced coaching and mentoring. In short, I don't think he has a plan to bring this program to the next level.

This season is the culmination of the pattern. The talent is not the reason, the attitude of the players is not the reason, it's the development and handling of those players that really makes the case for Greg leaving. Saying that he doesn't understand why this season has been a disaster is admitting that he doesn't know how to fix things.

Twenty years of employment is a big security blanket, but if OU really wants to see that this program gets to DI respectability, it should look in new directions. The buck stops on Kampe's desk.
