Not sure if he is a yankee. His wife's mother lives in Ohio. That may be an indication. As my passed Mama used to say while tilting her head and kinda looking through her eyebrows..."they ain't from here, ya know."

I think I may have told this story before...I left home in NE Ms in 1961, but we went/go back as often as possible. One time that we were back for a visit circa 1990, I was discussing with Mother a family that I vaguely remembered. This family had lived in our town since at least the early-mid 50s. Mom looked at me with that "look" and said "you know they aren't from here?"

Point is that folks from way up yonder in the hills don't readily "accept" new folks even after 40+ years. Please note that we were definately not from the "correct" side of the tracks. It's just the clannish way of life up there.
