Save the whole ones, you can insert them into fruitcakes and return to sender... or plant a few. That packet of ground ones we sent should keep you for a while unless you have an asbestos tounge. BTW.. they have NEVER given us any kind of Montezuma's revenge... aka Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire". They will make you sweat and make your lips feel a lil' warm, but no digestive damage. Bob says that he thinks they are members of the "chilitin" family..chili peppers of a sort. He has 32 plants sprouted from his. From what I have seen of them, in the right climate they could be considered weeds. Our main plant is in a tall plastic bucket with a 2 inch hole in the bottom. No particular soil...no particular fertilizer. We drag the bucket indoors in winter and it drops peppers into the pots of surrounding plants, and everybody sprouts come spring. They will make a 3 foot producing plant in about 3 months. The green ones are hot... The red ones are VERY hot. We use a hand cranked nut chopper to cut them up. A hundred watt lightbulb and nothing less than about 38 degrees will keep them growing and slowly producing thru winter. Of Course it ain't hard to accumulate a backlog. I did send you a pix of a plant didn't I? It sprouted in May and was photographed in late July. Enjoy.. Marv
