This has not just happened recently. - They have been "conditioning" taxpayers for years with the thought that giving up their Rights is a "good" thing, but first, they had to opt themselves out of the Social Security System in favor of a more lucretive job security and retirement system, so they could raise their on saleries and retirement benefits at the expense of cutting yours. (Therefore, they assume that since the money was "skimmed" from other programs, their unearned saleries & extravagant Retirement Benefits don't actually cost you anything)
They feel so good about this, they are always on the lookout for other areas in which to expand their greed. - They are well on their way to depriving you of gun ownership, so that when the "Bloodsucker" war does come, we will have to throw sticks & stones, because that will be all we have left. (But those will be taxed, so if you haven't paid your "Sticks & Stones Tax", you will be looking at the inside of a "Stone Wall" without a stick)
Meanwhile, they do not worry about being voted out, since they long ago voted themselves 100% full salery upon retirement, and they always "endorse" close friends & relatives for the spots they vacate so that the fiasco will continue.
If any of their antics are ever questioned, it will be explained in a language that even they don't understand, so as to make you feel even dumber.
There are even those that want to take this globally, to open up endless new resourses to expand their need for Greed & Power.
