Subject: Chill limp into playoffs...

The Minnesota Chill ended their inaugural campaign by losing a tough 5-setter to the Grand Rapids Force. It was Minnesota's first loss to the Force this year, and it couldn't have come at a worse time: the Chill are now less than 48 hours from the start of the playoffs, and the Force are on a roll. Grand Rapids won 3-2 (25-20, 25-17, 16-25, 20-25, 15-12). The Force are now 5-1 when winning the first game, and 0-12 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Chicago backed into the #2 seed (and hence home court advantage for the first round of the playoffs) with a 3-2 loss to St. Louis. Chicago and St. Louis had equal records, but Chicago won the tiebreaker by having one more point.

Grand Rapids will open the playoffs Thursday night at 7 in Rochester, MN, facing the immortal Addie Mahnken and the Minnesota Chill. If Sunday's game @ 3 in Grand Rapids fails to decide the series, it will conclude next Wednesday in Rochester at 7.
