Subject: UOP Archrival Named USPV MVP

St. Louis Quest middle blocker Benishe Roberts was earlier this week named the United States Professional Volleyball League Most Valuable Player. The voting placed two former Big West Conference standouts, two erstwhile Golden Gophers, a one-time Bruin, and three members of league-leading Minnesota in the top 5. The immortal Addie Mahnken placed fifth.

Roberts, a star at Long Beach State, won the vote with 36 first place votes and garnered 132 points overall. Her closest competitor was Chill outside hitter Nicole Branagh.

Roberts averaged 18.8 pts, 13.6 kills, 4.2 blocks, 1.1 aces, and 9.4 digs per match to earn the honor.

Also honored was Chill star Lindsey Berg. Already named USPV Outstanding Server, Berg also was awarded as Outstanding Setter. She averaged 41.3 setting assists per match and an astounding 11.4 per game. Berg had a total of 743 setting assists, including a record-tying 66 vs. St. Louis.
