BERTEL NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR THIRD TIME; HEIL ALSO HONORED

IRVINE, Calif. -- University of the Pacific senior Susanne Bertel (Guenterslben, Germany) was selected as Big West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year by the conference coaches on Tuesday, April 30. It is the third time she has won the honor, also earning the award in 1999 and 2000.

Susanne, ranked 86th in the nation, tied the school record with 25 singles wins this season and is tied for fourth on Pacific's career list with 76 career victories.  Bertel also earned All-Big West First Team Doubles with partner freshman Katharina Heil (Zellingen, Germany).  In addition, Heil earned All-Big West Honorable Mention honors as a singles competitor.
