Subject: Predetermined...

One word describes the mens semis and the girls final: predetermined. Raw and Smackdown are more believeable than what went down Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

I had forgotten about those fake walking calls. But I will never forget the raw deal the refs gave our valiant girls. Every time we got a decent run, those crack-heads made up some phony call. And, to top it all off, UCSB was playing dirty and getting away with it. That center of theirs was over the back all day long, and the only people getting called were Tigers. Oh, near the end, they tried to cover that up with a few make-up calls, but the harm was already done. In the first half, someone cheap-shotted Selena Ho, but nothing was called. And it wasn't just me seeing this. There was a guy near me who knew more about basketball than I'll ever dream of knowing; somebody from UCSB had a security guy come over who almost threw him out. I guess UCSB is like the Soviets in the Olympics this year: if they don't get their way, eliminate the people in the way.

Anyways, sophomores Nancy Dinges and Gillian d'Hondt led the way for UOP with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The All-Tournament Team

Lindsay Taylor, UCSB
Gillian d'Hondt, UOP
Nancy Dinges, UOP
Julie Shaw, UC Riverside
Crystal Givens, LBSU

Taylor (Yuck!) was MVP. That's too bad, because the hardest workers I saw the entire time were Dolinda Meeker, who rarely left games, and Andrea Nederostek, who was my MVP.
