I'm betting that was pure 100% 'spontaneous' Romney right there on the debate stage. Plus I'd say that's a tried & true tactic that he habitually uses to harass, coerce, intimidate or embarrass the lesser peons below him. I believe this was shortly after the Perry campaign came up with its one true brilliancy of coining the word "vulture capitalist" & MR was just looking for the opportunity to spring it on him. $10K means next to nothing to MR (after all, a mere $450K in annual speaking fees to MR means he's 'unemployed').

Standard use of betting milieu to intimidate/get a reaction/supplicate/humiliate an 'inferior' is pure psycopathic practice. I don't see this as something that MR or staff thought up as a specific debate-worthy tactic to use beforehand ... this was pure 'real' Romney. I dunno, maybe some of you think it was proper etiquette for a potential Chief Executive?
