The offense must still be a big part of the defensive effort by controlling tempo & ToP (although it's virtually even for the season). The margin of error for the D is paper thin ... the more they are on the field the more they are exposed to breaking down.

However, health-wise, the team is seemingly in great shape for where NFL teams typically are by this time of year & personnel did a great job cobbling together what depth they have (actually not too bad, especially given the loss of Hall & with CBs Jennings & A Jones being actually credible), but it also tends to cut the other way also by emphasizing the damage of what few mistakes they do make.

Baltimore (being as familiar as anyone from frequency of divisional contests) picked up that there was vulnerability to such as this & well-designed a play to take advantage of both Bengal tendencies & Balto personnel to execute same. I guess we'll see whether Houston can pull off the same gambitry?

S Mays has also been severely limited in practice this week & may be a no-go, which could loom large since he apparently did a credible job on the Houston TE for the snaps he was in on the first game. Crocker's knee is also a problem that's been limiting him, although I believe he took the field for his routine "vet's day off" per week this week.
