MY (deleted) reply to my first post (also deleted) commenting on the PFT report that Jay Gruden was taking himself out of the HC interview carousel this season, speculating that he may be anticipating a potential HC position here (after next season) with Lewis possibly bumping up then to become the first formal outside GM. 1st post opining that Brown would ultimately prefer a HC from the offensive side of the ball. Any theories as to why they'd want to delete such speculations & supporting data?

Not sure why my earlier comments here about Mike Brown now controlling 100% of team ownership (in the recent transaction nailing down the final 40% for a cool $200mil, cash) should be removed, but it certainly MIGHT legitimately allow for the internal purse strings to be loosened now as far as freeing up that ownership cashflow BACK into operations for actually paying someone else not related to Brown to actually BE a formal GM/personnel director (& which Marvin already partially performs as HC).

It’s actually quite stunning how Mike & Paul parlayed an original $8mil in 1967 into full family control of what is now a nearly $1BIL asset (twice beating the IRS in open court in disputing the succession process).

Now that that’s all set, things may finally change internally on the management side for My Precious Tissue Paper Tigers. ALL of the $$$ now don’t have to be assigned to cementing team ownership for the family under the sub-S corporation structure (as well as paying ‘dividends’ to the holders of the formerly outside percentage).

Brown’s “loyalty” to current employees is legendary & I wouldn’t exactly expect that to change, hence the proffered conclusion that Lewis has possibly been groomed to ultimately fill this position (i.e. Mike “trusts” him) for the Bengals, which would be a first.

Plus the fact that longtime personnel director Lippincott recently ‘resigned’ to go back to his first love, coordinating defense at Moeller High.
