Subject: Evolution of the Bengal offense: 2TE

According to sources, Gresham not being able to evolve (+ he missed some in-season time w/ injury ) w/o offseason was a big factor why the offense stalled over the last half of the season. Donald Lee also had some injury woes that held them back too. I'm looking for them to pick up another weapon at TE and fully develop the 2TE as receiver package similar to how NE does it.

Gruden on Hobson was quoted as saying Gresham hadn't absorbed the route concepts sufficiently but he expected a big breakout with the upcoming full & normal offseason under the belt (they compared his progression to V Davis in SF, albeit starting from a higher comparative level of initial production).

They did some of it already by splitting Gresham out wide but there should be a much bigger expansion of the 2TE packages to come. This will also serve to open it back up for AJ via the multiple threats, plus Gresham showed flashes of realizing that he could get big YAC just by keeping his feet & bulling the smurfish DBs trying to bring him down. Brat had a lot of 2TE stuff in his but more for max protect inline blocking ... the NCO allows for more featuring of receiving from the TE position a la what NE is doing now:
