But I disagree that it's wrong to point out that these parents may be doing a disservice to their children. You are correct that if people are discriminating against these people because their name sounds black, it's the people doing the discriminating that are in the wrong. But since we know that such people are still out there doing this on purpose or that subconsciously people are skipping over such resumes....why intentionally subject your children to a greater chance of being impacted by such people?

That in no way means that you shouldn't work on rectifying the problem at the source...it just is a recognition that the change won't happen overnight and that the children will have to deal with the effects in the interim. As I think the author stated, that's just throwing another hurdle in their path.
