He probably got a lot more money, is closer to home, has a better in-state recruiting base, and most important, and is at an institution where he won't play second fiddle to the basketball program. Those are pretty much the reasons why UNC lost Mack Brown to Texas, although admittedly Baylor is no Texas (but UK is no UNC, either!). -- PS: Mack told his players at UNC that there was no truth the rumors the day before he accepted the Texas gig.

Here's a quote I found amusing from an article in today's NY Times: "In Alabama, Crimson Tide backers have branded Coach Dennis Franchione a turncoat because he accepted a lot of money to take over a probation-free prrogram at Texas A&M after just two years in Tuscaloosa. They're surprised by his lack of commitment to the Tide players? They lured him from T.C.U. and another deserving group of players after only three seasons there."
