Subject: Recipe booklet..great as gifts for teachers

You will need construction paper, writing paper (colored printer paper works great), big rubber bands and 7 inch cinnamon sticks, and of course your favorite recipes along with some colored pens such as gel pens etc.

Using the construction paper cut 8 inch squares. You will need two squares for each booklet as this is the cover. Using the writing paper cut 7 inch squares and cut as many as you want pages in the booklets.

On one side of the construction paper, this will be the binder side, measure 1½ inches from the top and bottom. Using a paper punch make a hole at the measurements. On the 7 inch squares measure ½ in from top and bottom on one side of the paper. Punch holes at your measurements. Using the colored pens write your favorite recipes on each page. After you have written all the recipes sandwich the 7 inch pages between the 8 inch construction paper squares. Now thread one end of the big rubberband from the back side of the booklet through one of the holes. Slip the cinnamon stick through the end on the front side and then pull the other end of the rubberband across the back to the other hole, thread that end through the hole and insert the cinnamon stick through it.
Decorate the front by stamping, drawing, writing or whatever you would like to decorate the cover of the booklet.
If children are going to be giving these to their teachers it would be great for the child to write one or more of the recipes, that is providing the child is old enough to write. The child might even be the one to decorate the cover. Or you might want to use construction paper for the pages as well then use 3 x 5 cards with recipes written on them and glue them to the pages at different positions and do stamping on or around the recipe. This is a project where you can really use your imagination.
Making the booklet this way allows more pages to be added if the recipient chooses to do that. All they need to do is remove the cinnamon stick from the rubberband, add pages and redo the rubberband and cinnamon stick. Of course you can make the booklet bigger or smaller as well.
