Hello! I am also looking for answers. At age 5, I had polio. I have worn a long leg brace since 1958. I have led an active lifestyle until recently. I am 53 years old and have recently been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease and the muscles in my back have atrophied. The pain was so intense that I thought I had broken my hip. I saw a specialist and asked him about whether the polio had anything to do with this and he said, no, it's an aging process. At 53? His recommendation was cortizone, steroids and if those didn't work, then surgery. I don't ever want another surgery. I had several of them as a child. I have been going to a Chiropractor for 7 weeks now (twice a week), and can tell only a little improvement. He says that it will take a long time. Am planning to use massage and accupuncture next - whatever it takes.

Jan
