If you are still interested in long term effects on children of polio survivors (I am one myself), Take a look at this link:

It seems that 'carnitine' is an enzyme that breaks down proteins into energy, polio survivors and their children often present very low levels of this enzyme.
I haven't taken it myself but I do suffer from fatigue and take multivitamins every day which helps somewhat. I have found that eating red meat regularly (every day if possible) also helps.
