Subject: Re: Teeth and my fear of Tile Floors

for most rodents and lagomorphs, in most scenarios a break or split in an incisor is not the end of the tooth, as Dennis said, these keep growing regardless of damage. only IF, as Steve said, you avoid infection.

I am curious as to how your vet handles this, so please let us know how it turns out. sometimes it is best to clip the tooth sometimes best to let it grow out.

I have wanted to replace my carpet with tile, but the squirrel is such a clutz i fear the squirrel will knock his tooth. Those of you who have had flyers with splits/breaks was a hard landing on hard ground ever the cause?

In gerbils and rabbits a split or break is most often associated with being feed pellet or soft food routinely allowing the teeth to grow too long. But these animals don't fly.

best of luck Mary keep us posted
