Subject: I have a new baby boy!

Good Morning! I have a new young flying squirrel that was rescued by a former student (Noah Hancock) and his dad. He is male and appears to be about 5 weeks old. Pretty baby, so Mama had been doing her job. The dreaded cat was the culprit (I'm with my friend Moca--"Protect Wildlife--Keep Ye Cat Indoors!") but the little one is not harmed that I can see. He was VERY EXHAUSTED (and you would have been too if Noah and his brother had plucked you up off the ground, believe me) but he is eating formula and doing the bathroom thing--only had to stimulate once! He is not moving much, so that is the next thing I will be watching; since I don't see any injuries, I am thinking he is just plain out sore! Today I will start offering some tiny bits of nut and grape and go from there.

This post is mainly FYI but if anyone knows of a possible home for "Noah", please let me know; I have 3 females and 2 males (and my gray Spiderman who sleeps and plays with the flyers) so one more won't bother me, but I am willing to place him in the right home. (OK, Bill Stork, don't be scaring anyone off at how "challenging" it is to get one from me! ) BTW, I am traveling to NC in 6 days and could make a delivery on the way up!

Needless to say, I am in my element---I LUV having a baby to tend!
