Subject: Found A Flying Squirrel - Need Advice

Hello - I was given a flying squirrel yesterday that someone had found in their house. Originally it was told to me that it was a pet squirrel that had been abandoned, now I have been told that it was found inside a house as if it snuck into the attic and was stuck inside. I have it in a small (too small) cage and bought the Fruit 'n Nut mix of bird food from Wal-Mart - I think it is eating but am wondering if it shouldn't just be let free outside. If it was wild and not a pet wouldn't it do better that way? I haven't tried to handle it but I was told by the person that gave it to me that it got out of the cage once and when he caught it it did bite him. It doesn't seem to be very comfortable around people but it isn't bouncing around the cage frantically trying to escape either. What does everyone recommend that I do with the adorable little thing??? All advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jennifer
