Solemn Promise made careful note of her surroundings, the herd, the meadow, the falls, etc. Her brown eyes searched for something to do. The sun was high in the mid-afternoon sky; she needed a way to cool off, a scapegoat from the heat. She could go swimming. Destiny Falls was renowned for its swimming. After all, its very name was derived from the falls. Every time she walked past it, she felt in awe over the power, which it invoked. Mother nature had certainly out done herself. It was powerful as well as an eye pleaser. The rushing water emptied out into a narrow river, which in turn, flowed out into the sea. She’d give anything to be one with the water. To spend a day, just one day, following it’s twists and turns, to swim with the fish, and other pond wildlife. It would be an adventure. It would provide her with much needed, and greatly sought after, excitement. Solemn Promise trotted to the river’s edge, her gait possessing natural grace. She’d make a great show horse. She stood, her nose a few inches away from the water’s surface, and stared down into its depths. It didn’t resemble the murky green color, which so many other bodies of water did. Instead, it was a clear blue, crystal blue. So clear, in fact, that she could see the bottom. She saw her reflection in it. And if she took a step forward, which she was tempted to do, she’d be up to her knee sockets in it. She’d never had much of a chance to go swimming before. But now that she did, she might as well take advantage of it.
