“I never meant to hurt you,” she declared. It was the truth. And even if it hadn’t been, unlike Pinocchio, she wasn’t going to grow a three-inch nose. If she knew that lying could do that to you, she’d always tell the truth. Not that she didn’t already. But she’d make sure that every word she spoke was heartfelt, and came from the heart. You rarely take the time needed in order to contemplate the small, insignificant matters, minor details. Instead, you spend the majority of your time on the bigger problems, trying to come up with a solution. Maybe that, in itself, was the problem. If you started small, took on step at a time, you’d be more likely to notice the results. What was the point in leaping, and missing? You wouldn’t get anywhere, at least nowhere worth going. I’m not trying to convince you that Charity’s telling the truth. If you didn’t believe her already, I doubt that there’s anything that I could say that would convince you otherwise. Charity had let her emotions get the better of her. She had taken a risk, a huge risk. And although the results were not what she had hoped for, not exactly, she was content. At least for now. What Fox said, if he meant it as she did, gave her newfound hope. It gave her a basis to build a future, their future on. It would take time, and a great deal of effort and patience. But in the end they’d reach their destination. Home sweet home. Destiny Falls was to remain her home. And as trying as it would be, and as complicated as matters would get, she would stay. There would be no more running away, not now, not anymore. She was home; and Fox was her family. Words didn’t seem to do the moment justice. So she didn’t say anything, just stared up at him, her brown eyes trusting.
