What you should fear in flood damaged cars is what happens years down the road. All electrical contacts may have been submerged. It is possible that the mechanical parts were submerged as well. It may run fine now, but it will probably haunt you for life. I know an auto dealer who said he would rather buy a car that had flipped and bent a frame than one that was flood damaged.
