Interestingly enough, I heard of something similar 25 years ago from another expert mechanic who liked to run his Mercedes at WOT down the center of Pennsylvania on the interstate. He used a bit of 2-cycle outboard motor oil due to the fact that it was formulated to burn in the combustion chamber.

On a catalytic converter car, I'm wondering if it would cause the cat to get "real hot" .
